Estante de Histórias: encouraging reading in rural Paraíba
EDF power solutions in Brazil supports several projects through Incentive Laws. One of them is Estante de Histórias, a project with which the company has been a partner since 2017. In 2025, the project reached the municipalities of Junco do Seridó, Assunção, Santa Luzia, and Salgadinho, in the state of Paraíba, home to the Serra de Seridó Wind Farm.
The initiative aims to encourage reading among children and contribute to improving the quality of education through playful resources and actions that stimulate reading habits. To this end, participating public schools receive a bookshelf and a complete collection of children’s books selected by education professionals.
The bookshelf also includes a mat and thematic props, such as finger puppets and a stage curtain, which can be used to enrich the dramatization and interpretation of children’s stories.
In this edition, 12 bookshelves were distributed to schools in the region, benefiting more than 1,800 students and teachers. In addition, the project held storytelling sessions with the participation of more than 590 students, as well as workshops for nearly 160 teachers, aimed at sharing storytelling techniques for children.
