Açu Transmission
Located in the municipalities of São João da Barra and Campos dos Goytacazes (RJ), Açu Transmission is EDF power solutions’ transmission project in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The company was founded in 2022, following EDF power solutions’ win in ANEEL Transmission Auction No. 002/2022. The project comprises the construction of the Porto do Açu substation (SE) and the transmission lines for sectioning the existing 345 kV Transmission Line (LT), which connects the GNA I thermoelectric plant (UTE) to the Campos substation. With approximately 40 km of lines between the new substation and the Campos substation, the project was developed to meet the long-term electricity demand of Porto do Açu and the Santo Amaro region, in Campos dos Goytacazes.
Given its relevance to local economic development, the project was declared a strategic undertaking for the State of Rio de Janeiro and deemed to be of public utility.
